This Saturday we participated in the 10th annual Great Downtown Pumpkin Festival and pumpkin chunkin competition. A few of our members set up and manned a booth down at Main Street Square for the pumpkin festival. The rest of the team went to Memorial Park to for the pumpkin chunkin competition.
All seven teams participated in the first three rounds and attempted to get as close as possible to target distances of 100, 200, and 300 feet. Our team did well enough through these rounds to make it into the afternoon rounds where only the top three teams remained. Going into our final throw, we were trailing. To win, we needed a final throw farther than we had ever thrown before. One of the other teams loaned us some of their weights and we put them on the trebuchet and made our final throw. It went the distance! We won the competition and took home the trophy for the 10th annual pumpkin chunkin competition.
